I would highly recommend Damp & Timber Independent Surveys. We had some issues with mould and damp in our house and got in touch with Ian and David, having found their company on the Property Care Association website. Ian was punctual, courteous and extremely helpful when he surveyed the house. The written report was excellent, with clear recommendations. Overall I feel very reassured, and feel their service is very good value for money. Thank you very much.
As we were purchasing an old property (in bad condition!) We decided to get a full damp and timber survey - and bypass the more general home buyers. After making a few enquiries I realised that Damp and Timber would be a good fit as their testing was extremely thorough - rather than purely visual they would take samples/lift floor boards and panels/make inspection holes etc. They were patient and answered all my questions and we're happy to deal with the difficult agency and their questions too. We were very happy with the service - the inspection was done the first weekend in January - by this time a few companies had not yet even replied to my email of enquiry! The report was delivered within the 5 days and was very detailed. We will use this as guideline when renovating. I would highly recommend.
Ian and Dave were excellent to work with. We needed independent advice about damp issues that arose from a homebuyers survey when we were purchasing a property. We were recently buying a house and the initial survey brought up damp issues, so we wanted to get an independent Damp and Timber survey done prior to purchase. I dealt with Ian at Damp and Timber Independent Surveys, who was extremely helpful, quick to respond and was able to explain all the issues and what would be required in a manner that I could understand, considering I have no idea of what I am doing. The survey was truly independent, and you can tell that they are not pushing unnecessary work for a profit, which was important to me.

Really appreciated Ian's extremely helpful advice - he suggested a survey was not the best option, and that I could get away with less expensive fixes. How rare is that for a business to NOT say you need to hire them? Will definitely be contacting Ian in the future!

I don't often write reviews, but trying to find a damp surveyor with the correct expertise has proved very testing. Indeed the mention of some high damp meter readings in our homebuyers building survey had us feeling very dubious. So I felt it would be useful to share the experience - especially as the first man we found turned out to be a fake - despite his twelve 5 star glowing Google reviews and claims to be a Property Care Association member!! More aware, we realised that in our ignorance -the potential to get stung by a job building ' damp preservation specialist ' wanting work was high. And finding a reliable person to accurately assess and explain what was needed proved a complete blessing and a triumph. Ian is an independent damp surveyor - CSRT qualified - he simply surveys and reports upon damp and the treatment and /or ventilation remedies needed. At the property Ian started the survey by taking meter readings,, then providing access through the floor boards to the sub floor - allowed Ian to complete the survey we needed. We were not disappointed and came away with a quite an education - fully understanding the minor problems and the nature of the work needed. Ian explained the damp in 'laymans terms' providing myself and our vendor with the clarity we needed to cost out the work . Enabling us to reduce the house price accurately, accordingly and with confidence to undertake the work ourselves knowing the exact nature and source of the damp readings , we can now continue with our purchase confidently. We really feel blessed to have found Ian Battle and couldn't commend him more - he is an actual member of the PCA and truly provided a 5 star service . We are very grateful . Thankyou Ian !!
I would not hesitate in recommending Ian and Dave. I initially contacted Damp and Timber, to determine the true extent of a problem raised in a home buyers report, as they are independent surveyors, and do not therefore profit from any remedial work that they may find. We had a friendly discussion prior to instruction and the report that Dave and Ian produced was professional and extremely thorough, including photographs and approximate costings. They arranged everything and sent the report within 4 days of the inspection. Great service.
Dave and Ian responded very quickly to my online query. The survey was arranged and completed within a week, and the survey report was clear and comprehensive. The owner of property which was surveyed, reported that the surveyor was polite, thorough and professional. I cannot recommend Dave and Ian highly enough.
Dave and Ian were able to complete and provide a full report within about a week of us getting in touch. They were really helpful in our deciding which survey was right for us and the whole process was really simple - once we provided our agent’s details Dave and Ian sorted out the rest.
The report was detailed and clear. Areas of works that needed attention were labelled clearly in writing as well as in a helpful diagram. Suggested remedies were practical with an indication of the urgency and options to correct issues. Cost of any work was clear.. All in all it’s given us peace-of-mind over our house purchase and clear instructions to go off when arranging works. Fab job, would recommend. Thanks guys
Excellent service - very prompt (I requested a survey on a Friday, on the Wednesday it was completed and by Thursday I had my report). Extremely detailed report, and a completely impartial service! Would recommend to anyone!
